| The Planets page of the Galactopedia lists the correct resources, availability and spawn rates for each planet type. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| HOW MINING WORKS: | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Mining Engine value determines the OVERALL resources mined per second (e.g. a value of 30 means 30 units mined per second). | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Mining Rate bonuses are applied as a % increase to the Mining Engine value (e.g. with 10% Mining Rate bonus, an Engine with a value of 30 will mine 3 extra units per second = 33 units per second overall). | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| The Mining value is then split according to the number of resources on the planet (e.g. if a planet has 3 resources, then an Engine with a value of 30 will mine 10 units per second of EACH resource). | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| The split Mining value is further affected by the % availability of each resource, as a ratio of the percentages (e.g. if a planet has 2 resources A (100%), B (50%), then a Mining value of 30 will extract 20 A and 10 B per second, as the ratio of the % availability of each resource is 2:1) | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| The split Mining value is further modified by the type of resource extracted. For example, Caslon is preferred 3 times over other gases at Gas Giants (e.g. If availability is the same on a Gas Giant, with Caslon (100%), Argon (100%), Krypton (100%), then a Mining value of 30 produces per second: 18 Caslon, 6 Argon, 6 Krypton). | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Therefore, the number of resources, the % availability of resources and the hard-coded preferrance of certain resources, all together create a Share system, which allocates Mining Value to each resource. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Planet size does not seem to affect mining done by stations/ships. Asteroid size MIGHT affect mining rate, but if it does, it's negligible (e.g. With a Mining Engine of 12, I produced 12.07 Steel at a 50 Size Asteroid, but 12.52 at a 250 Size Asteroid). | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Therefore, the formula for producing a PARTICULAR resource at a particular planet seems to work something like this: | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Resource produced per second = S (V + V*R) | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| V = Mining Engine Value | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| R = Mining Rate Bonus | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| S = Share Coefficient (determined by the formula below) | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| And further, the way the Share system that determines the amount of a PARTICULAR resource mined at a particular location, seems to work something like this: | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Share Coefficient (S) = (A*P*Other Factors) / (N*AT) | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| A = % Availability of Particular Resource at Location | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| P = Factor by which Resource is Globally Preferred over Other Resources at its location (e.g. for Caslon = 3) | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| N = Total Number of Individual Resources (at the Location) Resources that are preferred over others need to be counted more than once here, depending on how much they are preferred (e.g. Caslon should be counted 3 times) | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| AT = Sum of % Availability of All Resources | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Other Factors = There seems to be other factors that affect mining, which I was unable to figure out (See below) | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| NOTES: | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Update 1.0.9.8 introduced a 30% decrease of all mining. I'm not sure how that is implemented exactly. With a Mining Engine of rate 12 units per second, I noticed that at Asteroids with 100% resources I would produce around 12 units per second (as expected). At certain planets, with the same engine, same resources and same availability I was producing 9 units per second. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Mining done at colonies doesn't follow the above formulas consistently. Mining rate seems to increase over time at colonies, and seems to differ from 1 colony to another. Therefore, I assume that some combination of Development, Population, Planet Size might affect the mining rate. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| There seem to be miniscule variations in resource production per tick (in the range of +/-0.5) | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| If you are interested in increasing cash flow through mining, then I don't think you should worry too much about mining rate. Rather, the real limiting factor seems to be Cargo Space. Mining stops when your Cargo Bays are full. Therefore having larger Cargo Space in your stations will increase the income they contribute to your empire. Furthermore, the rate at which Freighters pick up Cargo (so Distance from target, Speed, Cargo Space, number of freighters) is far more significant than any resource production formula. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Caslon seems to be the only resource that gets an increased mining rate (x3) over other resources, but I haven't tested every single resource. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| HULLS - ENGINE LIMIT | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| The developers intended ship models to always display engines in a symmetrical formation | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Hull Models (almost) always are equipped with an odd number of Engine Bays, to ensure that no matter how many Engines the player gives a ship design, its engines will always be symmetrical in relation to its Y axis | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| If the Hull is supposed to have an odd number of Engine Bays, then no limit applies (Value = -1) | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| If the Hull is supposed to have an even number of Engine Bays, then the Model is equipped with an odd number of Engine Bays, but the Engine Limit variable is set to the number of Engine Bays the model is supposed to have (Value = 2, 4, 6, 8, etc) | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
